The polar bear is a perfect example of how the animal kingdom can adapt to the extreme nature. This bears thick fur and solid layer of fat protect this incredible hunter. Hunting over enormous distances across land, ice and water, the polar bear can survive for weeks without eating. The ”Nanok” is perfectly evolved to survive in this extreme Artic environment. Anyone who wants to live and survive under extreme conditions can learn from nature’s own solutions.
Following a long tradition Norwegians have challenged the forces of nature and travelled around the world. From the Vikings incredible trips in small, open boats using the sky and stars for navigation to Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen, were among the first to explore the Artic regions. These pioneers were wise enough to understand nature had a lot to teach them. They drew from the knowledge of the indigenous people to inspire the equipment and clothing they used. This is one of the most important reasons why Amundsen was the first to reach the south pole in 1911.
As early as 1888 Fridtjof Nansen trekked across Greenland using a new inventive product – a sleeping bag.
Anyone challenging nature, needs to respect and learn from it. We in ”Nanok” have inherited this same respect and love of nature in developing and designing our products, so that you can get the best possible outdoor experience.
